At the Blacksburg Electronic Village, we often do internal work for Virginia Tech, most of which comes from the IT Department. For most projects, we develop the design and user interface, and then pass it off to another group to do the backend of the project, as most applications have a JSP background (which we don't do).
The Virginia Tech Project Management Portfolio (PMP) was a tool originally designed for one organization within the IT Department. It was developed to help track the funding, progress, and information for various projects in the organization. However, after its release, it has since been expanded and adopted by the entire IT Department.
